Apple Changing iPhone Launch Pattern to Fall Season?

Apple has been always quite predictable as to when they upgrade their devices. The iPhone has always received an upgrade in the summer season, with iPod’s getting upgraded at special musical events in early fall. The pattern should be clear with this chart which shows the refresh of iPhone’s every year –

iPhone 2G                              June 29, 2007

iPhone 3G                               July 11, 2008

iPhone 3GS                              June 8, 2009

iPhone 4                                  June 24,2010

As we  can see Apple broke its pattern with fall season launch of iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011. As per speculation Apple is reported to launch the sixth incarnation of the iPhone in September-October. This interval is expected considering the blockbuster Q3 and Q4 quarters Apple had on the back of strong iPhone sales which surged due to the holiday season. Apple sold nearly 37 million iPhones in the last quarter, beating closest rival Samsung and becoming the king of smartphones

The sixth generation iPhone is reported to have a completely new design and a 4-inch screen. It’s also rumored to be supporting  LTE connectivity and quad core processor. Last year, it was speculated that Apple would launch two iPhone’s, one that would target the medium range markets and another one would be the actual refresh of the current generation. Perhaps, the rumor turned out to be wrong.

In a conference earlier, Tim Cook, CEO at Apple also said that the company doesn’t believe in making cheaper products for its customers. Apple has always been about launching quality products with some amazing design and engineering which they could advise to their friends and relatives.  When do you think Apple will launch the iPhone 5? Let your comments pour in.
